Questions to Ask your Wedding Photographer

4 CRUCIAL QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

1. How many weddings have you done?

This is a great first question to ask any wedding photographer. Notice it's "how many weddings" instead of "how many years". Many photographers do a full spectrum of photography work - high school senior portraits, newborns, families, corporate events, weddings, etc. If they have been shooting weddings for 5 years but only book a handful per year, they don't have much experience with weddings. Our company ONLY does weddings and engagement sessions and have done 300+ weddings.

2. Can I see a full wedding gallery?

It's important to review a full gallery from your wedding photographer. There are certain images that don't get posted on a portfolio page or Instagram. Family portraits, for example, won't end up in a well curated portfolio but it's one of the most important photos of the day.

3. Do you carry liability insurance?

Before booking a photographer, make sure to ask if they have liability insurance. Chances are you already booked your wedding venue and most wedding venues require all vendors to carry liability insurance. It would be a total headache to find out just before your wedding that your photographer doesn't have insurance and will not be allowed on the property. We carry $2 million in liability insurance.

4. What kind of equipment do you use? Do you have backups?

Our photographers use top of the line, full-frame cameras and pro grade lenses. It's critical for a wedding photographer to carry backup cameras, lenses, flashes, cards, and batteries The worse thing that can happen is a photographer missing half the wedding because of malfunctioned gear. All our photographers carry backup gear.
